Sand Slits

Sand Slits are installed to take the unwanted water away from the surface down to the main and lateral drains below. The slits are usually 50mm wide and between 250mm-300mm at a normal spacing of 1m or otherwise 2m. The slits are backfilled with gravel and then topped with sand or root zone. This can improve the performance of the playing surface in bad weather and is usually carried out on football and rugby pitches, golf courses and racecourses.
